Sometimes the best advice is the most basic and simple.
If you have lowered feelings while going through a divorce, or something else very challenging, such feelings are understandable. Chances are, there is nothing wrong with you.
About 30 years ago, I was going through a difficult time; I was grieving the loss of loved ones who passed away. I decided to have a counseling session with a seasoned psychiatrist, who had testified as an expert in a few of my New York divorce cases. Among the things he suggested during that session was to do something fun, perhaps something I have wanted to do that I had never done before.
I knew this man had great wisdom about human nature, so I decided to take his advice. I took a stab at something I had never done before: songwriting. The doctor was right. I found this pursuit so absorbing, it gave me some respite from my sadness.
Thereafter, I wrote songs for fun, off and on, during my leisure time.
One of my songs is about my work as a collaborative divorce lawyer. The song expresses the wisdom I have learned during my 40-year career as a New York divorce lawyer.
